Harcourts Pacific Adopts Families in Need This Holiday Season

Harcourts Pacific took it upon themselves to spread holiday cheer, by adopting families in need of extra support this time of year.

They offer support in the health field, and also other concerns including clothing, food, and emergency financial aid.

“As a close-knit team, we are always having discussions about new ideas and initiatives we can be involved in. After hearing about the SOS Foundation through word of mouth, I was excited to share the opportunity we had to sponsor disadvantaged families,” says Green.

The Harcourts Pacific Corporate Team unanimously decided to get involved and donate their own annual Christmas gifts. Instead of receiving holiday gift cards, they used the money to help families supported by SOS.

Harcourts made it their mission to specifically donate to the “Adopt a Family” holiday event, and sponsored 5 separate families. Each “wish list” was divided amongst their team, and they fled on a group shopping spree to bring their lists to life.

Green adds, “It’s been nice to receive a letter explaining the family situation and a little story about who mom and dad are, which allows us to shop for gifts that are personalized for the children and what the family needs.”

Every gift is distributed by SOS to recipient schools and organizations wherever families are located. Harcourts was not able to meet the families in order to preserve their anonymity, but their generosity is very much appreciated.

"These families aren’t requesting anything extravagant, some of the requests were as simple as a toothbrush or a blanket to keep warm. It’s fun shopping for toys, but it’s even more fulfilling knowing you’re helping these families even with the basic necessities,” says Harcourts Marketing and Communications Manager, Erica King.

Harcourts shows great excitement towards delivering their purchases to SOS, and are grateful to have the opportunity to give to others this holiday season.

For the last 48 years, SOS has run “Adopt a Family”, where donations of gifts and food are given to families struggling to help their own loved ones. This year alone, according to SOS, the program will connect donors with more than 1,500 families recommended by Costa Mesa and Santa Ana schools and organizations.

Harcourts Regional Director, Rob Forde mentions,

“I’m really proud of the team for electing to forgo their Christmas gifts to give back to a family less fortunate than them. It goes a long way into the Harcourts values and shows the team is really living them through giving back to local communities.”
